DARKNESS BRIGHTENED BY ENNIS, 10 COVERS

After taking a four-issue hiatus, master storyteller Garth Ennis will resume writing for Top Cow Productions with The Darkness #11 , and Image Comics will celebrate the start of a new story arc by shipping the issue with 10 alternate covers.

Ennis will collaborate with new co-writer Malachy Coney on "Hearts of Darkness," a storyline which will introduce the ambitious Appolonia Franchetti, who's ready to take over the operations of her father, Don Frankie Franchetti, and to take out his most trusted associate: hit man Jackie Estacado, the Darkness.

The book will be illustrated by Marc Silvestri and Batt. Silvestri will also be one of the 10 artists to provide an alternate cover. Other cover artists will include Joe Benitez, David Finch, Brandon Peterson, Michael Turner, Dale Keown, and Whilce Portacio. There will also be a contest sponsored by Wizard: The Guide to Comics to determine which artist drew the best cover.

The end of 1997 will be unlike any other, as DC's most sinister and terrifying malefactors will turn New Year's Eve into "New Year's Evil" - an entire ship week comprised of eight 32-page specials exploring the darkest sides of the DC Universe.

"New Year's Evil" will feature both malicious and mischievous criminals starring in the following titles: Body Doubles #1, Dark Nemesis #1, Darkseid #1, Gog #1, Mr. Mxyzptlk #1, Prometheus #1, The Rogues #1, and Scarecrow #1.

The specials will be handled by writers and artists including Dan Abnett, Andy Lanning, Dan Jurgens, John Byrne, Sal Buscema, Mark Waid, Jerry Ordway, Dennis Janke, Alan Grant, Grant Morrison, and many more. Every "New Year's Evil" cover will carry a distinctive trade dress, individual logos, and artwork by Jason Pearson.
